Consultant - Data Governance - Full-time

As a Consultant in Data Governance, you will assist clients in establishing, implementing, and enhancing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures. This role involves providing hands-on support in areas like data lifecycle management, data security, and risk management, ensuring client data is well-governed, protected, and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, including data policies, standards, and practices.
  • Assist in data lifecycle management efforts, ensuring data is created, stored, maintained, and disposed of effectively and securely.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data security initiatives, emphasizing the protection of sensitive information.
  • Identify and document data risks, developing strategies to mitigate vulnerabilities in line with client goals.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity efforts by working with internal and client security teams to align governance policies with broader security objectives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in data governance, data security, risk management, or cybersecurity consulting.
  • Foundational understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and best practices for data management.
  • Basic knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their implications on data governance.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus but not required (e.g., CDMP, CISA, CISSP, or similar).

Work Environment: 

  • Remote work from home. 
  • Hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday. Specific business hours will depend on client needs. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. 
  • The person in this position must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, library stacks, office machinery, etc. 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer. 
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and coworkers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
